~ About KnightsRealm and our Breeding Program ~
I don't believe that a blue eyed Sphynx is worth more than its green eyed sibling, nor do I believe that a female makes a better pet than a male. It always depends on the individual kitten and I try to match a kitten's personality to its new family. I do believe that health and temperament are extremely important, so we have a diverse out-cross program to strengthen and broaden the Sphynx gene pool.
We are a closed cattery and therefore do not stud out our Kings, as I believe the risk of bringing infection or illness into our home is too great. There is no right or wrong in this situation, this is just my personal preference. We are not closed to visitors and welcome new kitten owners to visit and meet their kitten and it's family ( once the kittens are old enough for visitors, as we don't want to bring any virus' etc into their nursery while their immune systems are low.)
We are a cage free cattery, our Sphynx are a part of our family and are free to explore our home. They have their own room where they can go to sunbath, sleep and relax in a child free environment if they chose too. We are not a big cattery and only have a few cats so that they receive our full attention and are treated as members of our family.
All our kittens are well socialized before they leave for their new homes. They are raised amongst the chaos and love of our family, side by side with our children.
Kittens are between 12 - 16 weeks old, before they are old enough to leave. They have age appropriate vaccinations and a final health check before they leave. Our vet vaccinates our cats, we do not vaccinate at home as I believe those early vet visits are crucial. We test for FeLV and FIV and our Sphynx are all FeLV/ FIV negative. We test our Kings and Queens yearly for HCM. On November 2010 our cats were scanned HCM Negative!
Our cats are an important part of our family, I hope that one may become an important part of your life too.
Welcome to KnightsRealm Sphynx...
